When deciding which data migration tool to download and use, first consider what your actual needs are, as sometimes free and budget software may only provide basic options, so if you need to use advanced tools you may find a paid platform is much more worthwhile. Additionally, higher-end software can really cater for every need, so do ensure you have a good idea of which features you think you may require from your data migration tool.
To test for the best data migration tools we first set up an account with the relevant software platform. We then tested the service to see how the software could be used with different files and folders, from different devices, in different situations. The aim was to push each data migration platform to see how useful its basic tools were and also how easy it was to get to grips with any more advanced tools.
Zinstall Migration Kit Pro 55
The process of data migration can be intimidating if you haven't done it before. It doesn't matter if you're a business user or a home user, the idea of trying to move all your files and folders from one computer to another can be scary, and that's before considering moving settings or applications, all with the threat of loss if anything goes wrong.
However, whether you're migrating data for security (opens in new tab) or backup (opens in new tab) purposes, or are upgrading to the latest version of an operating system, you'll want to pick the best data migration tool for the job.
When it comes to data migration, it offers a feature called Active Disk Learning which creates an exact replica of a Windows or Mac system while the operating system is in use, removing the need to stop what you are doing and reboot the machine in order to migrate data.
The only data migration tool recommended by Microsoft and Intel, which collaborated on the software, Laplink PCmover makes it easy to transfer apps, files and settings between two PCs. Designed with ease of use in mind, simply install the software on both PCs, click a few buttons, and everything will transfer across in a matter of hours.
If you get stuck, you can connect with one of Laplink's PC migration experts, who are available 24 hours a day, for help; that's once you've bought a software license. Alternatively, you can opt to be shipped a physical copy that includes a high-speed transfer cable and free SafeErase software.
A free app for Android users, Samsung Smart Switch (opens in new tab) is the best data migration solution for transferring data between smartphones that are running Google's mobile OS. It's cross-platform, so it doesn't matter which Android device you own, and you have the option of transferring data wirelessly or with the use of a USB cable.

I searched for a way of transferring programs and files to my new Windows 10 HP PC. I chose zinstall and sadly was very disappointed. It took 24 hours. Then I found out that none of my files were transferred There was a hitch with transferring my microsoft home and student word 2007. I was told I'd have to pay an extra $83 or $87 (if I remember correctly) to have one of their techs achieve this. This took 8 hours. Then I found out that they did transfer Word but none of my files were transferred. Then I contacted Carbonite and they were able to download all the files in a very short period of time. I contacted Zinstall to tell them I was dissatisfied and the least they could do is pay back the additional $83 or $87. The person was fully prepared to deal with this so it was obvious I wasn't the first person to have a problem with zinstall. One would think a company would want us to be happy with their service. I wasn't asking for a full refund, just the extra amount. He refused no matter how I explained the situation. The only way he would be willing to reimburse me would be to totally undo everything they had done so I'd have to start from scratch. I will not use Zinstall again and I would not recommend them. I read all the glowing reviews on their website. Of course they aren't going to publish any of these negative reviews.
I to purchased ZInstall. When I asked for support for the simplest of questions, the only thing they would provide me with was that I needed to pay an additional $99 to properly install and activate the program. Your better off following Microsoft's recommendations for migrating XP to Windows 7. Use Microsoft's virtual machine until April 2014..Fact is this program only creates a virtual XP machine, and it's my understanding Microsoft will no longer support that, after April 2014, anyway. At total waste of money. Read the fine print on the agreement before you buy. You'll have no recourse if something goes wrong during the migration. NONE!Most of the comments above are truthful. If you don't pay the additional $99 - their support becomes non-existent faster than a New York minute.
Avoid Zinstall at all costs!I have installed the software and it fails to work each time. The sugested fix is to completely uninstall my firewall and virus protection then connect to internet. This is both stupid and irresponsible advice from zinstall a smy pc would be vulnerable to any hacker in range. As soon as I ask for a refund, Zinstall no longer reply to emails but are now sending "pretend" auto responses. The software does not work, the company are totally unhelpful, save your money and buy something else.Zinstall will rip you off.
It is expected that Rhapsody Design Manager V6.0.6.1 will be the last release of Design Manager. Teams that wish to continue using Rhapsody Design Manager will be able to use version 6.0.6.1 with Rhapsody V8.3.1 and the next release of the other Enterprise Lifecycle Management applications. Teams should start planning to migrate from Rhapsody Design Manager to Rhapsody Model Manager. If you are considering starting new projects, consider using Rhapsody Model Manager. If it is necessary to use Rhapsody Design Manager and to simplify future migration to Rhapsody Model Manager, avoid using the following features:
Actively Managed Mode: All new projects started with Rhapsody Design Manager should use Externally Managed Mode, and existing project should consider moving from Actively Managed Mode to Externally Managed Mode to achieve greater scale and stability.
Do not start using Rhapsody Design Manager with TRS/LQE and RELM. The information will be inconsistent with data from Model Manager when this feature is supported.
Do not start using the comment/markup/review process. This information will be lost upon migration of the project to Model Manager. Instead use work items for reviews.
The IBM Rational Rhapsody Design Manager Client Extension is supported on Windows™ only in releases version 6.0.5 through version 6.0.6.1.
